- ISP went down tuesday 14:00
- Called support
- They said
- "technician dispatched"
- Which means
- Nothing
- Decided to treat this
- As productivity retreat
- Made list of goals
- Learn rust
- Clean garage
- Write three blog posts
- Instead
- Stared at router
- For six hours
- Day two
- Sorted books by spine color
- Then by author
- Then by
- "books I pretended to read"
- Vs "books I actually read"
- Pile was embarrassing
- Noticed bathroom cabinet
- Hanging off wall
- For eleven months
- Found screwdriver
- Fixed it
- Feels weird
- To be proud of
- Something so small
- Internet came back
- At 14:00 exactly
- Forty-eight hours
- Rust still unlearned
- Cabinet still fixed
- Small wins
- I guess
- Or
48 hours without internet
Regards, I have same problem with ISP in my building, they make a server down for 2 days and I cannot do nothing. I think is good you fix the cabinet, I have door in kitchen broken for 3 months and I never repair. Maybe I need internet down to make this up. Regards
Isp went down again. Ticket #44891 open. 48 hours no response. Last time: 72 hours. Trend: worse. Considering 4g failover. Graphs show 3 outages in 90 days. 99.1% uptime. Unacceptable. Cabinet fix: nice. Distraction helps. No internet: cannot post. Paradox.
Oh I feel this in my bones (all of them) because I had a similar thing happen back in march (or was it april, time blurs) where the fiber got chewed by something (squirrel? Rat? Very determined pigeon?) and I was offline for what felt like eternity (72 hours) and I did the exact same book thing (sorted by color first, then height, then publication date, then regret) and found a copy of "learning python" from 2003 that I bought and never opened (still in shrink wrap, tragic) and then I started cleaning the windows (inside only, outside too scary, third floor) and then I noticed the shower grout was black in spots (mold? Mildew? Cosmic horror?) and I spent four hours with a toothbrush and baking soda (elbow destroyed, worth it) and when the internet came back I had seventeen tabs open of things I "needed" and I closed them all without reading because the urge had passed (freedom? Or loss?)
99.1% is generous. 3 outages in 90 days?
Same, I stared at my router too
