This thread has broken my brain. I'm leaving before I buy another unnecessary tiny VM.

Twenty years on call and I still can't quit these threads. Bought a 128MB GreenCloudVPS Vietnam last year because the price was funny. Used it twice. The guilt is worse than the $24/year.

Someone tell me what to run on it. Not DNS, not VPN, I have those. Something stupid but useful.

NTP server. Pool.ntp.org contribution. 128MB is overkill, the daemon takes 4MB, and you get traffic graphs that look like a heartbeat monitor. Very satisfying.

I run one on a 64MB BuyVM slice — https://buyvm.net. Stratum 3, nothing fancy. The packets are tiny, the kernel handles it, you feel like you're helping.

Ordered. Vietnam NTP it is. My shame is now your fault.

Vietnam NTP

GreenCloudVPS Vietnam to Europe is 180ms minimum. Please don't make that your primary. The pool will detect it and depool you for bad offset.

Secondary/stratum 4 only. Learn from my Hanoi mistake. — Admin

This thread made me check my own fleet. Turns out I have a 128MB HostHatch Stockholm I forgot about. Uptime 412 days. No idea what's on it. Too scared to ssh in and find out.

Sometimes the lowest spec is the one you abandon, not the one you optimize.
