Compose is correct choice. Hosting with 512MB, you have no room for the manager overhead.

I deploy 12 containers on compose, 1GB swap, no problem. Swarm would eat 20% of RAM for nothing. Elegant solution is simple solution.

Careful with swappiness. Default 60 on Debian means it swaps too eagerly. Set vm.swappiness=10 so it only swaps when really need. Otherwise you get lag spike for no reason.

Loki with boltdb shipper and no Grafana will run on 512MB! Swap is your friend! I run this on a toaster at work!

Seriously though disable the indexer or limit it! Defaults are for people with money! Which is not us! 💀

Following this thread closely. I was about to buy OVH because cheapest EU VPS I could find. Now reading about fire and thinking maybe Hetzner Nuremberg instead? Same price basically, and German engineering or whatever.

Is Hetzner actually more reliable or just lucky so far?
