IPMI fan curves that don't sound like jets · Dedicated Servers

Here in Buenos Aires we pay import tax on everything, so Noctua fans cost 45 USD each. I found local brand AireMax that claims PWM 4-pin compatible, 25 USD. Has anyone tested these? They are probably sleeve bearing, not SSO2, but at that price I am tempted to risk it.

Why I bought a decommissioned Liebert for scrap price · Datacenter Talk

Same here in Buenos Aires, the scrap yards in Villa Soldati have everything. I got three APC UPS units, 3000VA each, for 200 dollars total. One needed batteries only. The cooling is harder because of the transport, how you move this monster Mateo?

Poll: how far ahead do you renew your boxes? · General Discussion

In Argentina we know this game. Prepay anything in pesos and watch inflation eat the provider before they eat you. I do monthly with local ARS pricing, or yearly only if I can pay in USD stablecoin. CloudCone takes crypto, so I did one year with them once. Worked out.

'unmetered' should mean unmetered · Dedicated Servers

In Buenos Aires we get used to "ilimitado" meaning 10GB on mobile plans, so this is familiar pain. The dollar exchange makes Contabo attractive until you factor in the time value of migration. 50TB at 100Mbps is two weeks of suffering.
