Self-hosted is the real discount honestly

Built something similar to YuriDavid's bot but for Slack. Used Namecheap API for domains there, Gandi API for .fr and .eu, manual whois fallback for the rest. The real pain was normalizing date formats across registrars. ISO 8601 is apparently optional.

There is no good hosted service for this. I looked. The closest is something like Visualping or Distill.io but those are page change detectors, not price extractors. You still get diff spam when they change a banner image. Fine for "did it change" useless for "what is the history."

If you are on Hostinger and InterServer you are probably using their control panel to get console access when you break SSH. Keep that in mind before you disable password auth entirely and lock yourself out testing configs. Ask me how I know.
