This thread is missing the security angle. systemd has had CVEs. OpenRC has had fewer. But systemd also gets more scrutiny. I do not know how to weigh that. I run systemd because my distro does.

This. Correlated failure is the thing nobody prices in until it happens. Your "redundant" backups on two servers in the same datacenter are not redundant.

Joe27 how did you find out same substation? FOIA? Utility maps? Or after it failed?

Which providers actually publish substation-level data? I haven't seen it.
