You do not need ECC Memory for the ZFS Filesystem

I have been running a Fileserver at home for three Years now with cheap Consumer Memory and zero Bitflips. The Scrub runs monthly and finds nothing. The Paranoid Serverbuilding Crowd will now scream, but please to show me the Data where non-ECC kills Pools dead on arrival.

The OP has server good but is wrong maybe ¿why not¡ the ZFS is designed for the ECC is not optional is mandatory how much cost the ECC memory now is cheap no

You cant just run zfs without ecc thats asking for silent corruption the checksums dont help if the ram flips before they write its not about dying immediately its about the data slowly rotting and you wont know until its too late
