So I got my first windows vps from RackNerd and its using 2gb at idle and I dont understand why and I checked task manager and theres like a hundred services and I dont know what any of them do and I just wanted to run a simple discord bot and my friend said windows would be easier and I think he lied and I tried disabling some stuff but it only went down to like 1.8gb and im paying for 4gb total so half my ram is gone before I even run anything and this feels like a scam and I keep reading about something called svchost and there are twelve of them and I dont know which ones are real and which ones are malware and I already scanned with windows defender and it found nothing and im wondering if I should have just gotten linux like everyone said and im too deep now to switch but maybe I should switch and I dont want to lose my bot configuration and this is so frustrating and I just wante
Why does this Windows VPS use 2GB at idle?
So basically windows just does this y'know? Like its not even your fault tbh? The os itself is just heavy imo? You can trim some stuff but like theres a baseline thats just there? I tried windows once never again? Linux is just better for servers y'know? Simpler? Less stuff running? Tbh you should probably migrate? Like sooner than later?
Already try disable windows update and superfetch? Can or not?
2GB is normal for windows, dong. You want small RAM use, must use linux already.
My KnownHost VPS windows also like this, I move to linux after one week.
Simple is better.
Windows is not simple.
1.2GB is the floor. You found it.
