What's the worst meal you've eaten just because it was free?

Thank you for making this thread. Worst free meal I ever ate was three-day-old conference pizza at HostCon 2023 in Singapore. Organizers left boxes in server room overnight, then overnight again. Cheese had become like rubber gasket. But I was broke after paying for booth, so I ate four slices. My stomach made sounds like failing hard drive. Thank you very much 🙏

Yikes bro thats rough gg

My box at old colo had this thing where vendor would drop off "catering" after their webinars. One time it was sandwich tray from like 48hrs prior. Pwned my gut for 2 days but free is free noob. Gg

Three days? Try three weeks. Back when I ran ethernet for a regional ISP, vendor sent "appreciation lunch" after a T-1 cutover. It was Thanksgiving leftovers. In January. Someone else's computer won't save you from botulism, son. I ate the stuffing. Still here. Barely.

This is nothing. In 2017 I attended the Wedding of my Cousin in Dortmund. The Buffet was left standing for seven Hours in Summer Heat. The Fish smelled like expired Thermal Paste. I ate three Plates because the Hotel Internet cost 15 Euro per Hour and I had nothing else to do. I still think about this Meal. Please to avoid free Buffets.

Walking Fish would be an Improvement. The Potatoes were also green. I have eaten from Vending Machines at the Frankfurt Hbf with more Confidence.

This is the real crime. In Jakarta you can get 4G for a month for that price. Next time bring your own hotspot brother.

That's like, what, sixteen bucks? For an hour? I pay less for my entire home line and I live in Jersey where everything's taxed twice.

Conference food is a lottery. At Best I got fresh sushi in Helsinki, worst was some kind of meat log in Riga that I suspect was horse. Estonian colleague ate it no problem, said "this is normal." I ate it because my per diem was already gone on taxi from airport.

This. I have pocket wifi from Globe, 999 peso unlimited. Saved my life at APAC peering forum in HK, hotel wanted 20 USD per day. Ate terrible dim sum but at least I could complain on discord in real time. Gg
