I have twelve boxes from 2014 to 2022 and im curious what dies first in practice not theory

My guess is psu but I want data not vibes

For what it's worth, this is an interesting framing but you're missing the deliverability angle.

Hot take: hardware failure correlates with notification failure. When a PSU dies silently, your monitoring doesn't email. When a disk fails SMART, your Postfix to Gmail gets blackholed because you never fixed your SPF record on the IPMI subnet.

I've seen three "mysterious" outages that were actually:

  • IPMI on a blocklist (RBL, not hardware)
  • Capacitor leak tripping the PDU's ground fault
  • Fan death causing thermal throttle, not crash

Your poll should include "I don't know because alerts went to spam."

Check your DNS before you blame the silicon.
