I look at ticket response times.
I test during peak hours.
I verify it's actually dedicated.
I check if the IP is clean.

Good list! I also make sure the Internet Box still has enough Memory. Last time my nephew said we needed more RAM for the website Pictures but Dell said we had to buy a new Server. I think he meant the Storage. Anyway I check if Hostinger still picks up the phone. They know me by name at this point.

Gg op solid checklist. I always test my minecraft box during peak hours. If valheim lag hits during world save, thats a red flag. Also check if their 'dedicated' plan is actually shared. Happened with GreenCloudVPS — https://greencloudvps.com — my ark server had rubberbanding every night. Wp to the guide.

Everyone here is missing the deliverability angle. For what it's worth, before renewing any host I verify their IP space against major blocklists. Check Spamhaus, Barracuda, Proofpoint. Budget hosts recycle dirty IPs constantly. SPF and DKIM won't save you if the sending IP is poisoned. I have a whole spreadsheet. Also verify reverse DNS is delegated properly — https://dnschecker.org. Most budget providers get this wrong.

SPF, DKIM, DMARC — holy trinity ✉️
