What do you use for DNS when the registrar's is slow?

Moved 12 domains to Vultr last month, their registrar DNS is averaging 180ms TTFB from EU monitors. : 99.2% uptime on DNS alone, which is garbage for DNS. Looking at alternatives before I move zones. Self-hosted Bind9 on 3 euro VPS gives me 45ms but single point of failure. Cloudflare is fast but centralization makes me itch. HostHatch anycast is 90ms but costs 6 euro monthly for my volume. What do you use for budget domains where registrar DNS is trash? Need secondary failover at minimum, about redundancy gaps.

436 days. reboot is surrender.
