Please to share knowledge dump for june

Server taught me maritime signal flags history this month

International code of signals — 26 flags for letter, 10 for number, 3 substitute, 1 answer please

Originally british admiralty system, standardize in 1857

Most interesting: flag "romeo" mean "ready to load" but in modern use also mean "ready to refuel" for helicopter operation

I learn this at 3am because why not

Someoneelses obscure knowledge always triggers my own spiral[1]

The InternationalCodeOfSignals was not even the first attempt at maritime Semaphore — that honor goes to Chappe's optical telegraph in 1794[2] which required trained Operators with telescopes and a complete disregard for fog

Footnotes:
[1] I have seventeen of these threads bookmarked
[2] I looked this up at 2am instead of fixing my own dns

The mold its beauty is it — the cave its darkness holds secrets many is it

Penicillium roqueforti the sheep milk it transforms — blue veins like rivers through white stone is it

@emalite your 47 papers the dedication I respect ji — but the french caves they are not only place is it

Spain — cabrales also has caves deep and cold — the cheese there sharper more fierce is it

No punctuation only the dash — the knowledge flows like milk becoming cheese is it

ospf, bgp, babel — speaking all

Kindly I would like to inform that I have learned about the proper method for cleaning vintage keyboard switches this month only.

The process itself is quite involved:
1. Disassembly of each switch is required.
2. Ultrasonic cleaning with isopropyl alcohol at 90% concentration.
3. Drying time of 48 hours minimum is necessary.

Dear/madam, I have ruined three keyboards before achieving success. The patience is cheap only when one considers the cost of replacement boards.
