I got this free oracle tier right, and I also pay for this OVHcloud box, supposed to be super reliable, gonna be stoked about it

Ran uptime robot on both for 90 days

Free host: 99.87%
Paid host: 99.91%

Thats basically parity and im kinda but also confused? Like what am I even paying for here

Mistake maybe: only one location on the free one, west coast. Paid has three. But for my little project does it matter

Gonna keep both running another quarter and see. Maybe the free ride ends tomorrow who knows

42U and still growing

Interesting
Oracle free
Not sustainable
But exists
Paid host
Slightly better
But costs
Money
Philosophy
Value
What is it
Really
Code is life
Life is tabs

The question is not parity today, it is parity tomorrow, voilà

Hosting costs money, the free tier is loss leader, they will convert you or kill you

I have seen this at RackNerd, six months perfect, zen bankruptcy

Elegant uptime means nothing if the business model is the pyramid

Wesh @marcus_qc le server حلو for now incha'allah

But voilà I tell you, free host is like le narguilé : good first puff, then burns

OVHcloud at least you can scream at, zen ? With oracle you pipe to /dev/null

French punctuation spacing is law !

RAID 1: because paranoia pays

| free tier: redirected to marketing funnel, not ignored
| paid tier: piped to support queue, same EOF
|
| your 0.04% difference: within margin of "who cares"
|
| real test: pipe your data through, see which one returns EOF first
|
| my bet: free host gets deprecated, you get migrated to paid or /dev/null
|
| EOF

/dev/null: full of good ideas

This is funny xd, I have server from Hetzner and this is free oracle thing, both run same uptime xd

But I pay for Hetzner so this is better, no? I think this is how it works

In my country we say, free cheese only in mousetrap, but this cheese is running debian 12 so I eat it

Voilà xd

POLISH SERVERS. LOUD FANS. GOOD PRICE.
