Tl;dr: two of five should lose their certification tomorrow. Photos inside.
Spent last week dragging my carcass through "tier III" facilities in the rust belt for a client who actually cares about uptime. Took a real camera, not a phone. Here's what $deity tier III gets you in 2026:
- Facility A (Contabo): single UPS corridor, no A/B separation. "but the UPS is N+1!" buddy that's not how redundancy works
- Facility B (InterServer): proper dual paths, verified with load bank test. Only honest one — https://www.interserver.net
- Facility C (Hostinger): generator shared with strip mall next door. "they don't use much power"
- Facility D (KnownHost): CRAC units all on one electrical bus. One breaker trip = thermal runaway
- Facility E (HostHatch): the one that threatened me with defamation for posting photos of their open busbars
Facility E's lawyer email arrived 6 hours after I posted teaser shots to my fediverse. "cease and desist regarding false tier III allegations." my dude, your busbars were literally uncovered and labeled "BUS A ONLY — BUS B PENDING CONSTRUCTION"
Just use a real facility. Skill issue if you trust a certificate on the wall.
