Hello, welcome to August edition. I learned to solder last month, made simple power supply for home lab. Very scary at first, burned one finger but now I can fix broken cable without asking help from shop.

I learned VLANs properly this month. Tagged, untagged, native — finally clicked. Set up three segments at home: IoT quarantine, trusted devices, guest. Tested my restore after, naturally.
What about everyone else?
Methinks I have learned this month the ancient and noble art of pigeon breeding, forsooth, whence I acquired three birds from a fellow of mine own acquaintance who dwelt upon the outskirts of town where the internet cables run thin and the ping doth exceed three hundred milliseconds, and wherefore I have discovered that these creatures, much like ye olde server of my youth upon which I ran OpenVZ with great suffering and little reward, do require constant attention yet return unto their keeper a strange satisfaction that defies the cold logic of our modern age, though I confess I have not yet applied the 3-2-1 rule unto their offspring nor tested any manner of restore.

@Reykjavik filch I need to stop you there. OpenVZ is not virtualization, it is containerization with extra delusion. The virtualization tax on OpenVZ is zero because there is no virtualization. You are sharing a kernel and praying the host's cgroup limits hold.
Actual KVM with proper NUMA pinning and hugepages? That has a tax. Worth it.
