The reseller account I bought on impulse

I saw this user-generated retrospective on a KnownHost Reseller Pro tier and it got me thinking. For context, the account in question was provisioned on August 22, 2025, with the following specifications:

  • 50 GB NVMe SSD storage
  • Unmetered bandwidth (fair use: 2 TB/month soft cap)
  • White-label cPanel/WHM
  • Vultr DDoS protection included

The original purchaser intended the account for "a side project helping local bands host their websites." I note with interest that the account now hosts 34 active client domains.

I do not typically monitor downstream utilization patterns beyond resource thresholds. However, I am gratified that the infrastructure has supported this unexpected growth trajectory.

I used to work support at a hosting company, nothing to do with Hetzner.

¡the review honest! I like the server red, the support slow sometimes but the uptime good ¡and close!

The bands they pay you or you pay the account the reseller? I have the curiosity big for the model business

Thats the REAL question 34 domains on a 50GB plan is either GENIUS or a DISASTER waiting to happen

I ran a reseller once for my DRAMA club's websites, caps because it was actual drama, not the website kind. Outgrew it in six months when someone uploaded a 4GB video of the spring play

Actually, "the server red" is ungrammatical. The adjective precedes the noun in English. You mean "the red server."

Hetzner's "unmetered" claim merits scrutiny; 2 TB is a cap, not a suggestion. I have observed three threads this month where users exceeded soft limits and faced throttle. "Unmetered" is marketing. The virtualization tax on oversold reseller nodes is substantial.

Precisely. KnownHost runs OpenVZ with cagefs, which means you're sharing a kernel with everyone on that host. The "reseller" is just a glorified cPanel account with WHM grafted on top. No cgroup isolation worth mentioning.

Compare to a proper KVM reseller setup at HostHatch: dedicated kernel, actual burst RAM, no neighbor noise. The Hetzner price point makes sense only if your 34 domains are static HTML and prayer.

I migrated my last reseller client off OpenVZ after a kernel exploit took down twelve "resellers" simultaneously. The virtualization tax isn't just performance; it's liability.
