After my last blameless postmortem (registrar API timeout burned 40% of my error budget for the month), I documented the escalation chain. Transparency matters.
Email 1 - Day 5: "Per ICANN policy 3.7, transfer must complete within five days of valid request. Please confirm status and provide AuthInfo code validation timestamp."
Email 2 - Day 7: "I am preparing ICANN Transfer Complaint Form 141. Please escalate to compliance team and provide ticket number."
Email 3 - Day 10: "Complaint filed. Please confirm legal contact for service of process."
Success rate: 94%. Two registrars offered credit for "inconvenience." One completed transfer same day after Email 2.
(I tried this) (well, a variant) (the registrar in question was one of those "budget" ones) (you know the type) (the transfer completed in six hours) (but they also (mysteriously) billed me for "expedited processing" that I never requested) (so maybe add a line about not authorizing additional fees) (just a thought) (or twelve)
push. done. coffee.
