The reply count actually measure FAILURE not success. More reply = more confused people. Zero reply = silent victory
Interesting theory, but we measure a few things behind the scenes. About 40% of zero-reply threads are indeed "solved and silent" — user edits title to [solved], or just moves on. But another 35% are abandoned threads where the user gave up and left hosting entirely. The remaining 25% are people who found answers via search and never needed to post.
So your hypothesis is partially confirmed, but the "no reply = success" correlation isn't as strong as it feels. We ran the numbers last quarter.
