SURVIVED THREE ACQUISITIONS IN FIVE YEARS AND IM STILL STANDING. Contabo bought OVHcloud in 2021, then RackNerd bought Contabo in 2023, then some private equity shell bought the whole pile last year and renamed it GreenCloudVPS. SNAPPED UP my original $12/YR plan in 2020 and now im paying $48/YR for "equivalent" with 1/3 the support quality. SLA went from 99.9% to 99.5% to "best effort" in the fine print. Support tickets went from 2 hour response to 48 hours to "check our status page." they migrated my box three times without warning and each time something broke. Im documenting everything here so nobody else gets pwned by the same shell game. Due diligence resource lets goooo

Edge this whole mess honestly. Three ownership changes means three chances to pop your content somewhere that actually has cache hit ratio above 90%. I edge all my critical stuff across 12 pops now because origin drama like this is exactly why we don't trust host longevity. Your origin server is just a cache miss waiting to happen. Just use Cloudflare and call it a day. But yeah the SLA drift pattern is real, I've seen it at Hetzner too before they got edge-acquired.

Yikes three acquisitions gg no re. My box got moved from teh netherlands to germany to "central europe region" and now my ping is trash for my csgo server. Gg support. They pwned my ip reputation too, got some noob's abuse history on my new subnet. Yikes. How do you even check if a host is about to get bought out? Is there a lag meter for corporate drama

This happens in the server alot actually. My friend in Hostinger make the same experience and now he is in KnownHost or what. People is not understanding how much acquisitions destroy the support. I make due diligence now before I buy and I check how much ownership changes in last years. Actually three is too much. How much companies you check in your list? I want to make this for my friend too because he is angry.

The Ampere migration after the second acquisition was the only bright spot! They moved me to Altra nodes and the value is insane, runs circles around the old Xeon boxes at the same "grandfathered" price. But then the third owner killed ARM support entirely and forced everyone to x86 "for compatibility." Lost my insane value overnight. Now I'm on CloudCone with their Ampere line and actually happier.
