Status page showed green during obvious outage

At approximately 14:30 UTC on 2026-07-09, Contabo's status page reported all systems operational while our monitoring (independent, external) detected 100% packet loss to three instances in their SIN region for 23 minutes.

Our alerts were redirected to /dev/null by their automated status. We pipe our trust into that page. EOF.

Evidence:
| Traceroutes timing out to edge routers
| Contabo status: "Operational - All Systems"
| Community reports on this forum within 4 minutes of our detection
| Resolution at 14:53 with no incident ID assigned

We have since moved our status checks to HostHatch's independent monitoring as secondary. Cannot rely on provider self-reporting when the sensor is on the patient. EOF.

/dev/null: full of good ideas

(actually, (and I say this as someone who (used to (in a previous role)) run status pages)) (the problem is (almost always)) that automated checks (like (synthetic (ping-based))) don't catch (routing (or (BGP (specific issues)))))

Your specific prefixes (were they (announced (but (blackholed))))?
