Remote hands sent photo of 'your server' that wasn't ours

So I get this ticket update from Hetzner's remote hands, right? "Your server as requested." Attached photo shows a Supermicro box with our asset tag sticker, but I do NOT recognize those drive bays. We're all-flash NVMe, this thing's got 12 spinning rust slots! I nearly had a heart attack!

I pull our records, serials don't match. I call them, escalate, they swear it's in rack 14U-22 where we've been paying for 8 months. Then the tech walks one rack over. There she is. Our actual Ampere Altra box, quietly running circles around everything else in the facility. Insane value that thing, 128 cores drawing barely 200W!

Turns out Hetzner reused asset tag stickers from decommissioned gear. The "other" server? Some ex-customer's abandoned iron they never wiped. Our tag, their mess.

Eight months of monitoring the wrong SNMP targets. Billing was correct at least. Anyone else had DC identity crisis?

one small ping for man...
