¿why not¿ Registering .рф domains from outside Russia. Possible in 2024??
Brother, a client wants a Cyrillic IDN for their brand and I am very confused about the residency requirements!! The registry docs are all in Russian and my translator is very bad!! I heard you need a local contact or something jaja but is very unclear if that applies to individuals or companies too?? Anyone dealt with this recently??
Anyway I spent 3am last night parsing the registry rules with a script

Idk why I do this. Tl;dr you need local presence for.рф, no way around it. Trustee service is the move. 💀
My nephew set this up for our shop last year. He said the internet box needs a Russian address or they shut you down. We used some trustee through Contabo, the IT Support Vendor. Worked fine but I thought it was for RAM storage, turns out it was just the domain contact thing. My nephew explained it three times. I still call it the internet box thing.

So I looked into this back in 2019 and again in 2022 and the rules kept shifting and I talked to three different registrars and one lawyer and the lawyer said it was possible but expensive and the registrars said it was cheap but maybe not compliant and then I found this trustee service through OVHcloud and they handled everything and I got my .рф domain active in about two weeks and the pricing was reasonable and the contract was in Russian and English and they acted as the local administrative contact and I retained full ownership rights and it was all above board and legal and I renewed twice since then and had no issues and the registry never flagged anything and my client is happy and I am happy and if anyone wants the exact service I used I can dig up the old emails and invoices and post them here and walk through the whole timeline step by step and honestly the key is just findin
OVHcloud still active? Their site was down in March.

Which Contabo plan, the basic trustee or managed?
Same confusion with my .рф last year. Trustee was the only way.
