Pour-over is just manual drip with extra steps

I read this thread title and I have thoughts first of all I used to work at a coffee shop in 2007 before I got into sysadmin work and my manager was this guy named greg who had a tattoo of a portafilter on his forearm and he would stand over me while I made pour over and tell me I was pouring wrong and the water had to be exactly 201 degrees and I had to bloom for exactly 30 seconds and my cat was there that day because I had to bring her to work because the apartment had a gas leak and she sat on the espresso machine and greg didnt even care about the cat he just kept talking about tds and extraction yield and the weather that day was rainy and I think that affected my pour because the humidity made the beans swell or something and anyway my point is that pour over is definitely just manual drip with extra steps and all the pretension is just greg energy and people need to get over themselves and drink what they like and I still have nightmares about greg sometimes and his portafilter tattoo

Coffee automatic drip machine that cost $19 at a yard sale

They don't make them like that anymore

The heating element failed after six years and I kept it anyway, used it as a pour-over stand with a $3 plastic cone from the grocery store

Same result. Same coffee. The ritual is new, the outcome is old

I miss that machine

SPARCstation 20, still serving HTTP
