One year on Hostinger Istanbul €2.50 VPS

Bought a 1GB KVM from Hostinger in Istanbul November 2024. $2.50/month, dedicated IPv4, 20GB SSD. Documenting for the archive.

Specs at purchase:
- KVM on E5-2680v4
- Samsung PM883 SSD
- 1Gbps shared port
- /64 IPv6 + 1 IPv4

Uptime: 99.7% (three unplanned outages, 2-6 hours each)
Support tickets: 4 opened, 2 resolved in 24h, 2 auto-closed without response

Currency fun:
- Nov 2024: €2.50 = ~85 TRY
- Mar 2025: €2.50 = ~112 TRY (lira crash, effectively cheaper)
- Sep 2025: Provider switched to USD billing, $2.75 = ~95 TRY
- Nov 2025: $2.75 = ~78 TRY (lira recovered slightly, I'm paying more in TRY terms)

For that money you get what you pay for. SSD is actually PM883, verified with smartctl. RAID? Unknown, they won't say. No ZFS option.

Would I renew? Probably. Location is good for EU-Middle East routing.

The Turkish central bank's intervention patterns (which I will not pretend to fully understand. Macroeconomics was never my forte) make this a fascinating case study in provider-side currency hedging. Your €2.50 anchor lasted eight months. That's longer than I expected. The semicolon is underappreciated in financial writing. It separates clauses that are too closely related for a period, too independent for a comma. Hostinger's silence on RAID configuration is typical. I've found that asking twice yields either the truth or a ban. Their SSD choice is respectable, at least.
