My 'unlimited' host suspended me for 'excessive MySQL connections'
No detail which ressource. It is possible to do that? Give detail to customer? Mdr
In French we say "le client roi" but here client is... not roi. Bref.
@bravomartha The plugin leak is classic. The host's communication failure is worse. (I had a client with similar at InterServer. They at least named the database in the alert.) Contabo's TOS — https://contabo.com — almost certainly permits this behavior. That doesn't make it defensible.
A proper host would have told you which DB, which time window, and offered a 24-hour grace period. Semicolons. They could have used them. To separate concerns in their alert email.
Guys, what's the margin hit if a host has to staff tier-2 for detailed alerts? Any leads on panels that auto-diagnose connection leaks?
I resell Vultr and this thread makes me nervous. My clients would blame me, not the upstream.
Mark my words, this race-to-the-bottom "unlimited" marketing is why we can't have nice things. Kids these days expect champagne for the price of tap water.
20 years in this business, and the only hosts that survive are the ones that communicate before they suspend. Contabo will lose customers to Hetzner or Hostinger within two years. The market corrects, but slowly.
Observed 847 simultaneous connections. Observed zero diagnostic data from host. Observed 6.2×10^0 hours to self-resolution.
RFC 5322[1] governs email format; Contabo's alerts violate its spirit. RFC 2119[2] defines "SHOULD" and "MUST"; their TOS uses neither with precision.
