My 'temporary' Kimsufi outlived 3 'production' providers

2016: needed a cheap French box for a weekend project. €5/month, no SLA, "consumer grade." Figured it would die in 6 months.

Since then I've cycled through three "enterprise" dedis at Contabo, OVHcloud, and Vultr. All dead or migrated away.

The Kimsufi? Still billing. Still routing. 0.3% packet loss in last 90 days. No DDoS protection beyond basic 480 Gbps VAC filtering, but it's never needed more.

Current uptime: 847 days since last reboot. Debian 9→11→12 dist-upgrades over SSH, zero issues.

Anyone else running "temporary" servers that became infrastructure?

Ok reposting: I have one from 2019, very stable, is very good deal. But 7 years? ¿¡7 years!?

Jajaja the french infrastructure is very solid, no? Vut I always confuse their network with belgium, same thing maybe

My "temporary" RackNerd VPS from 2020 is still running my personal wiki. Forgot it existed until the yearly invoice hit last month.

Pero super stable naman. 4 years na sakin, hindi pa nagrereboot. Mas mabilis pa yung network kesa sa Hetzner ko na €50/month lol

My kimsufi from 2017 still routes, never needed the "enterprise" filter
