Sorry for the silly question but is this actually safe? I found my old samsung from 2019, installed termux, got nginx and mariadb running. Its just for my small craft shop site, maybe 50 visitors a day. But my nephew says im "crazy" and "this will explode"
It benchmarks faster than my old Hostinger VPS though. 4gb ram, octa core. No monthly cost. Just... sits on my desk charging. Am I missing something obvious? Seems fine for a week now. Sorry if silly.

@wilmaethqn44 Not crazy, just unconventional. The virtualization tax your old Hostinger VPS paid—KVM overhead, noisy neighbors, oversold cores—means bare-metal ARM can outperform allocated x86 vCPUs. Check your cgroup limits on the VPS; bet they were 0.5 core "fair share."
Real concerns: no ECC RAM, eMMC storage wear, no IPMI for recovery. But for 50 visitors/day? Overkill already. Termux proot lacks proper kernel namespaces; not a security boundary.

2019 Samsung—probably Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855. 7-10W peak, 2-3W idle. Compare to Dell R230 at 30W idle, $15/month colo minimum. Your "server" costs maybe $0.50/month in electricity if you leave screen off.
I've shipped pallets of R640s that draw 150W for workloads a phone could handle. The embarrassment should be on us, not you.

But sir, can you get stable IP? My ISP change IP every day, very troublesome for DNS. Maybe use Vultr tunnel or similar, thank you. Your nephew maybe jealous can, not understand. Wkwkwk thank you.
