2008 Corolla Blue Book: ~$3,400.
My home lab:
- 2x Dell R730, 256GB RAM each
- Juniper EX4300 switch
- APC Symmetra UPS
Total eBay spend: $4,200.
The Corolla could survive a 500Gbps volumetric attack better than my lab. My lab has no anycast, no scrubbing center, single point of failure on the Symmetra battery. I have spent more on copper DACs than on tires.

SNAPPED IT UP
Bro my CAR was $800 on craigslist and my R730 with 512GB was $450 on ebay ARE YOU KIDDING. The car has 200k miles and burns oil. The server has DUAL E5-2699v4. I track price history, that R730 was $900 in 2023. I won. My lab worth more than 5 cars. My wife not know the real number.

Ngl my H100 rig was 14k and I dont even own a car lol
I take transit everywhere and my "commute" is walking to the closet with the server. Inference pays for the hardware but my landlord thinks im running a bitcoin thing. 80GB VRAM per card, lol. I would trade the car for more VRAM honestly. Who needs outside.
