My experience: 6 months with a $15/month 1Gbps unmetered

6 months ago I grabbed a $15/mo 1gbps unmetered dedi from fiberhost in romania. Figured it would die in a month. Still alive. Heres the deal

Cpu is some old xeon e5 but it does what I need. Disk is sata ssd not nvme but $15 so whatever. Network is actually good, I pull 900+mbit most times. Had some packet loss in february for like 3 days but fixed itself

Support tho. Definitely the worst part. Tickets take 2-4 days. Sometimes they just close without answer. Had to open 3 tickets to get a rDNS entry changed. One time I asked about extra ipv4 and they sent me a price list for colocation lol

Overall im keeping it. For $15 you cant really complain a lot. If you need handholding tho look elsewhere

Anyone else on these cheap romanian boxes?

So basically im on a €12 box from OVHcloud in poland?? And its like basically the same deal tbh, y'know, old hardware but it works?? Network is decent imo but the support is basically nonexistent

I tried to get them to fix a routing issue once and they were like "works for me" so basically I just dealt with it?? Y'know how it is with these budget places

Imo if youre a student like me its fine but dont expect miracles tbh
