Major cloud's BGP mistake, lessons for small operators

Hello, I have make this thread because since 2 days I read about the big cloud provider who have leak their prefixes and make internet broken for many people. I think it is possible to do that? No, but they do it lol.

I am small operator, I have ASN since 3 years with Vultr and HostHatch. My network is small, 2 routers only. But this news make me think: if they can make this error, what about me?

I have read they use automated tool and the tool make mistake with prefix list. I have check my config, I use prefix-list manually on BIRD, no automation. Maybe this is good? Or maybe I am old style?

What lessons you have take from this? For me:
- check config two times before apply
- have backup whois contact (I have make this error, mdr)
- maybe use IRR but I not understand very well

Wesh lucgone! Le cloud حلو when it works, incha'allah for their uptime next time. But seriously, their automation is "too fast to fail" — le prefix list was pushed everywhere in seconds. For small operators, manual is feature not bug. I keep my configs in git, push slow, sleep well.
