Hi everyone — Jane @ Contabo here. Thanks for starting this thread, it's a topic we see come up often.

  • "Lifetime" deals are typically subsidized by ongoing customer growth
  • When growth stalls, the math stops working
  • We don't offer lifetime plans for exactly this reason

I'm happy to check specific provider stability via DM if anyone wants a second opinion. No pressure either way.

My lifetime deal with OVHcloud already die in 5 months lah... I pay €89 one time... now website gone... can or not get refund... I think cannot dong... such scam... never again... already learn my lesson...

I paid seventy dollars for lifetime box from Hostinger and it died in three months and I got no refund and elenas clients were angry and I had to pay double for emergency migration never again I say

Is lifetime always a scam? 😅 I saw one from GreenCloudVPS for $29 and almost bought it... glad I found this thread first... what should I look for instead... sorry if dumb question...

No lifetime. No prepay over 12 months. I compare by $/GB/RAM and lifetime always loses on actual months of service. My worst was RackNerd at 4 months. Best "lifetime" was actually 14 months from some random reseller. Still lost money vs just doing quarterly.

I have one lifetime box from 2011, still working. From small provider in Germany, I not say name because I not want them get flooded. I make a server up for friend project and forget about it... still ping... Regards. But this is luck, not strategy. I not recommend anyone try this.
