So I actually had this exact problem last year with a seasonal accounting client who only needed heavy processing for three weeks in april and then again for two weeks in january for year-end stuff and the rest of the time they just needed the IP to stay alive for DNS and occasional light file transfers (and I mean light like maybe 50MB a day) and I went through maybe six or seven providers trying to find something that worked because most of them either wanted full price for the idle months or their pause function destroyed the IP allocation which defeated the whole purpose since they needed that dedicated IPv4 for compliance reasons (dont ask, healthcare adjacent, its complicated) and then I found this weird setup at RackNerd where they had something called flex mode that wasnt advertised anywhere obvious (buried in their docs at https://www.racknerd.com, link was broken half the time) but basically you could dr
