Need a 4U chassis for my minecraft box, gonna run some valheim servers too maybe
24+ drive bays, sub-$200. My current rig has lag just thinking about storage expansion gg
Used/retired stuff fine, just need the shell really. Psu optional. Wp if anyone knows where to look

For 4U specifically, keep an eye on surplus from enterprise refreshes. Chenbro RM41300 or RM41724 chassis appear periodically. Check IRR records for defunct hosting companies; their asset liquidations often dump hardware without regard for market value.
Avoid anything with proprietary backplane signaling unless you have matching HBAs.

The retired backup appliance is good idea, I have find some on auction site but shipping is more expensive than the chassis lol

Please to look for retired Storage Array from Enterprise Environment.
The Backup Appliance often has the Chassis with 24 Bays or 36 Bays. Please to remove the proprietary Mainboard and install standard E-ATX Board.
I have found the Chenbro RM41300 for 150 USD with local Pickup in Frankfurt Area. Please to check the Marketplace for Server Hardware.

I have a Chenbro in the garage, 24 bays, backplane standard SATA not the proprietary one
But is pickup only in Toulouse, I cannot ship, the weight is killing me
