Need 8-port 10GBase-T for home office. Current switch is 40dB at 1m. Unusable for calls. Budget 400 EUR, can stretch to 600 if actually quiet. No SFP+—existing cabling is CAT6A. Used enterprise gear is fine if I can replace fans. What exists?
Looking for 10GBase-T switch that doesn't sound like a hair dryer
No logs, no proof. I have logs.
Lol I feel you my old Leaseweb switch was like a jet engine had to move it to the closet anyway the quarthost qsw-m408-4c is kinda quiet but its 2.5g only for 10gbase-t good luck everything enterprise is loud maybe look at the HostHatch vs-1008t discontinued but shows up used I had one not terrible at 32db
CloudCone VS-1008T: Broadcom BCM84891L PHYs, 28W idle, 40mm fans at 6500 RPM. Spec sheet claims 38 dBA. Real world 42-45 dBA in non-anechoic environment. Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM drops this to ~29 dBA but requires 3D printed bracket. Pinout is non-standard 4-pin with custom housing.
mitigated 800Gbps before breakfast
Simple is better, but
A fanless 10g switch is a hot switch
Which 3D printed bracket did you use
