So I found this Hostinger "summer blast" deal. 3 years, single node, 20GB SSD, "unmetered" bandwidth. $12 total. I know, I know. My restore plan is... well, I have rsync to my home NAS, but did I test my restore? Not yet.
The signup was instant, cPanel license allegedly included. Server in some undisclosed "US central" location. I ran a quick dd test and got 80MB/s write, which seems impossible on this tier. They have to be overselling the NVMe pool, right?
Still, for a static site mirror? Hard to beat. But I'm keeping my 3-2-1 rule in mind:
- 3 copies of anything I care about
- 2 different media types
- 1 offsite (my NAS counts, but did I test my restore?)
Anyone else taken the plunge on absurdly cheap multi-year deals? How'd it age?
