IPv6 still doesn't work after two years

Polite complaint thread. IPv6. Two years. This should be good.

So I signed up with RackNerd December 2023 explicitly because their sales page screamed "full IPv6 support." Dual-stack ready, they said. /48 on request, they said.

Two years. Four tickets. Three "we're rolling it out next quarter" responses. Last week I get "IPv6 is now live in your region!"

Still doesn't work. My end? Their end? I've checked my side six ways from Sunday. Router gets prefix. No route. Nothing.

Starting to think "next quarter" is RackNerd's "incha'allah."

Anyone else on KnownHost or Contabo actually have working v6? Or is this whole industry pretending?

A) two years is long
I) unacceptably long
2) my own IPv6 situation
A) GreenCloudVPS: working
I) /56 delegated
Ii) stable since 2024
B) HostHatch: partially working
I) routes exist
Ii) reverse DNS broken
A) ticket #4 open
3) debugging suggestions
A) check RA flags
B) verify PD lifetime
C) tcpdump on WAN interface

RackNerd runs Supermicro H11 1U boxes, dual EPYC 7313. I've shipped pallets to their DC. Good power draw, 180W idle. IPv6 is software config, not hardware. Should be trivial.

Check your firewall rules first. Consumer gear blocks v6 by default. Ubiquiti, MikroTik, even some ISP CPE. I've seen it a hundred times. "Their problem" turns into "my problem" real fast.

What router? What firmware version?

- OP situation: familiar
- NOTE: "next quarter" is not a date
- WARNING: may recur indefinitely
- my experience:
- InterServer: v6 works
- since: 2025-03
- prefix: /48
- Hetzner: v6 broken
- ticket age: 14 months
- status: "escalated"
- to: /dev/null
- ---
- debugging approach:
- layer 1: link-local
- layer 2: RA received?
- layer 3: route installed?
- layer 4: TCP handshake?

Yo Carl you speak true incha'allah the router is the problem habibi

I had same with my le server حلو at CloudCone, ipv6 doesn't work, it's the Orange box firewall, not CloudCone at all. Two days of rage, five minutes of fix. The shame.
