So I moved my static HTML portfolio from Hetzner's €3/mo plan to InterServer's "Performance" tier at $29/mo and somehow it's SLOWER. Like 180ms vs 580ms TTFB measured from my homelab. Both in same-ish region supposedly. Ngl this makes zero sense, the expensive one has "enterprise NVMe" and "premium network" in the marketing. My site is literally 12KB of HTML and a CSS file, no JS, no images. Ran it 50 times, cleared cache, same result. Anyone seen this before? Is there some hidden tax on "premium" hosts?

Very strange problem. My ser-va also very slow on very expensive plan before. Okay okay okay. Can you help me check if very expensive host has very big firewall? My ser-va was very fast after disable very big WAF. Very important for very sta-tic site. Can you help me test with very simple curl?

Thats wild. I had the EXACT same thing and it drove me nuts. Check if the expensive hostign has some "premium security". My old host had this "enterprise WAF" that added like 400ms to EVERY request. For a staic site. Total security theater. Turned it off and boom 150ms. Try curl -I and look for x-waf headers!

Seriously—check your headers. Seen "premium" WAFs add 300-600ms on static assets. Market rate for that latency is zero, because you shouldn't be paying for it. InterServer's "security" package is probably just a resold ruleset with enterprise-grade pricing. /22 in APAC region going for $48K now. Absurd.
