In 2015 I find the Contabo when they launch I was the customer number ONE we make a test with the $5 plan: 1GB RAM, 20GB SSD, 1TB traffic

Now is 2026 and the same plan cost $15!! I make a list of all changes I see:

  • 2015: $5, ticket answer in 15 minutes, the owner reply himself
  • 2017: $7, add DDoS protection basic
  • 2019: $9, change control panel, support now 4 hours
  • 2022: $12, add "premium network" but my latency is same lol
  • 2024: $13, remove ticket support for cheap plans, only forum
  • 2026: $15, same specs, "AI support agent" never understand my problem

Is very good they grow but I miss the old days.. the host is not more "my friend" is just "the AWS" now someone more was first customer of something?

ping so high I wave back

I tracked Contabo's uptime from 2017 onward. 2017-2019: 99.97%. 2020-2022: 99.94%. 2023-2026: 99.91%. Each price jump correlated with infrastructure expansion but also with longer incident windows. Their status page now shows 47 components. In 2017 it showed three. Alert fatigue is real.

436 days. reboot is surrender.

Lol I was first customer of a host in 2012 and they still run IIS for everything. Active Directory integration was the only reason I stayed. They got bought by someone else and now everything is linux. I migrated to InterServer just for Windows Server support. Growth isn't always good.

IPv4, IRC, and irssi — fight me

I was there for OVHcloud launch. 2014. They promised "forever price lock". Then 2018 happened. Now I pay triple. Never trust the marketing. The founders sold out 2021. New owners don't answer forum. Only billing tickets...
