So I got this "managed" VPS from interserver.net and they literally just install cPanel and call it a day. I asked them to fix a broken PHP version and they opened a ticket saying "please use our knowledge base". Managed used to mean someone actually logged into your box when stuff broke. Now it means "we manage to bill you monthly".
I miss when 'managed' meant something
Yesterday I buy managed server from racknerd.com, already they say 24/7 support lah
I ask help with ssl cert, they send me link to letsencrypt already, I go already to fix myself
Before managed mean they login, they check, they fix for you lah
Now managed mean they manage to reply in 48 hour lmao
I have three server-server with them, all same same
Bro I am thinking managed ever meant anything on sub $20 plans lol You get what you pay for, these hosts are paying support staff like $4/hour overseas, you really think they gonna handhold your wordpress Only place I seen real managed is when you hit $200+/mo and even then half of them just run ansible playbooks and call it a day
I remember when managed meant the host updated elenas server at 3am and I slept
I pay for managed so I do not have to think about kernel patches
Now I think about kernel patches and I am angry
I found a host that actually managed and they broke elenas app twice with automatic updates
I cannot win
Actually it is not my circus, not my monkeys when the host breaks your app with updates XD
I had "managed" from knownhost.com, they update my node.js already without telling me, application crash, I dont know nothing why
They say "security is important" but actually they dont test nothing after
Double negative: I am not unhappy to leave them lmao
