HostHatch unmetered 1Gbps: how I burned 89TB and got capped to 100Mbps

Hej, friends. Running little CDN experiment on HostHatch "unmetered" plan. Into config I put nginx with cache slice module, on server I store nothing permanent, just pass through video segments for friend project.

Month ends, I check vnstat: 89.4 TB out. No email from HostHatch. No ticket. Into account panel I look, bandwidth graph just stops at 80TB and goes flat.

I think: dead. They will terminate. Instead: silence.

Three days later I notice speedtest showing 95Mbps only. Check again: port capped to 100Mbps. No announcement, no notice. I did not notice for days because 95Mbps still moves plenty data.

So I lived. But lived slower. Malý victory.

89TB ON A $12/MO PLAN ARE YOU KIDDING

SNAPPED IT UP vibes but you didn't snap, you just... kept going?

I tracked HostHatch pricing history:
- 2023: $3/mo "unmetered" (actually 10TB)
- 2024: $12/mo, same marketing
- 2026: $18/mo, "fair use applies"

Your plan is ancient tier. They're too lazy to enforce TOS properly so they throttle instead.

Smart play or coward move from them?
