Hetzner's "unmetered" bandwidth has a 2TB soft cap?

  • Signed up with Hetzner in july
  • Their "unmetered" tier was clearly advertised
  • Got an email yesterday saying 2TB soft cap
  • What do I even do here

  • Contract says they can change terms
  • But I feel baited

Anyone else hit this

I feel you man, ngl this is why I stopped trusting "unmetered" on budget hosts

The inference cost math just doesnt work at scale, like you cant run LLM workloads on truly unmetered pipes without eating losses

Hetzner probably oversold their transit commit and now theyre clawing back. Classic

I have reviewed the Hetzner Terms of Service; I think they have something about bandwidth policies and thirty days notice. The machines they deploy for these tiers are not provisioned with unlimited transit contracts. The economics do not permit such arrangements.

I used https://www.hetzner.com/cloud for reference.

Does soft cap mean they throttle you or charge extra? I was looking at Hetzner for my project and now im worried!
