I got curious after seeing three "100% renewable" providers in a row. Ran yabs on five boxes, then traced their ASN to actual datacenter locations.
Provider A: Amsterdam, NIKHEF - grid mix 78% gas (2024)
Provider B: Falkenstein, Hetzner DC - 61% lignite region
Provider C: Singapore, Hetzner DC - 95% gas
Provider D: Singapore, Keppel - 95% gas
Provider E: Oregon, Flexential - 62% hydro, 38% coal
None matched their badge claims. Two had "RECs" from wind farms 2000km away. One had a certificate from 2019, expired.
Disk: 1.2 GB/s | Net: 890 Mbps | Price: $6/mo
Disk: 890 MB/s | Net: 410 Mbps | Price: $8/mo
Decent disk IO, meh network
If anyone has actual PPA contracts or on-site solar, post the utility bill. Otherwise it's fiction.

Sir, I am running VPS with OVHcloud in Singapore. They show badge but I never check sir. Made test last month, network to Singapore is good. Thank you very much sir for doing this work, I learn much from your benchmark.

Sir SingaporeRep, thank you for this post, very helpful lah. I use Vultr in Singapore, they also have green badge but can be fake-fake one. Their support say "we buy credit" but cannot show me paper. I ask slow-slow they still no give. Wkwkwk.
I think better to look at power usage directly, not just badge. Thank you thank you.
