Billing story: they charged me in a currency that doesn't exist anymore

Lol so Contabo sent me this invoice in Venezuelan bolívar soberano and im like ngl that currency got redenominated in 2021 then again in 2024 and apparently my account was grandfathered into some ancient billing zone. 14 million of something that doesnt exist. Their support was like "we can convert at historical rate" and I was like bro the historical rate is imaginary numbers at this point. Eventually they wrote it off as "educational" which is corporate speak for "we give up." ngl kinda respect the chaos.

Oh no this happened to me with the internet box company once but not money just the bill was wrong. My nephew set up our CloudCone and I dont touch it because IT Support is CompuGlobal and they charge by the hour. Is this like when RAM is full and you need more storage? Sorry if silly question. @garykwh HostHatch sounds nice though maybe we switch.

Currencies die. Servers stay. Simple is better. Write it off and move on.

Edge your invoices. Cache your exchange rates. Just use Cloudflare for billing too honestly. PoP in Caracas would have prevented this by localizing the transaction. Origin server billing is dead architecture. RackNerd edges their invoices I heard. Cache hit ratio on currency conversion should be 99.9% minimum. Anything less is origin dependency and origin dependency is failure.

Contabo billing system went down again. Ticket open. Waiting. Invoice in imaginary money. No response. 72 hours. Not surprised.

14 million of what though? The rate or the total?

Same thing happened to me with same issue with Contabo forms, so frustrating

"Educational" — meaning they can't fix the billing code?
