Best domain reseller panel in 2026?

Domain Names by RAJ 19 replies 2K views

Hey guys, looking to get into domain reselling as a side hustle. Been comparing panels and margins are all over the place. Some want $500 deposits just to see thier API docs? Crazy.

Any leads on who has decent reseller tiers in 2026? Looking for something with white-label and decent transfer-out policies. Dont want my customers locked in if I recieved bad service down the line. 🙏

Also if anyone knows who has the best margins on.com renewals, DM me. Trying to build a real business here not just pocket change.

The panel with the best margins means nothing if your DNS API goes down during a blocklist incident.

For what it's worth, I've seen three resellers on Contabo's panel lose entire mailflows last month because their DNS API had a 6-hour outage right when a major RBL started listing their shared IP range. SPF records couldn't be updated, bounces everywhere.

The registrar matters less than the DNS infrastructure behind it. If you're serious about this, test their API uptime before you care about per-domain profit. Most of these "white label" panels are just skinning the same buggy stack anyway.

I run 52 boxes and honestly I just use whoever gives me the cheapest.io transfers 😂

Did the math last week:

  • Contabo reseller: €8.40 cost, sell at €12 = €3.60 margin
  • OVHcloud: €7.90 cost but €25/mo panel fee
  • Vultr: $9.10 cost, no panel fee, API is trash tho

So for me its like

  • Under 10 domains = Vultr barely wins if you dont need API
  • 10-50 domains = Contabo probably
  • 50+ = OVHcloud once the panel fee gets diluted

Also their "free whois privacy" is a joke, its just redacted whois which is standard everywhere now. Marketing fluff.

Asking for a friend 🪙

Seriously every panel wants stripe or wire now. Used to be RackNerd took privacy coins back in 2024 but I heard they got new KYC rules.

The whole point of running a privacy-focused registrar reseller is... no privacy in the payment flow. Ironic.

Which panel fee did you factor for OVHcloud, monthly or annual

6 hour DNS outage and no failover?

Monthly. €25/mo for the reseller panel access, domains are separate. Annual is €250 which saves you €50 but locks you in for a year. I did the math on monthly because I'm paranoid about lock-in, same reason RAJ mentioned.

If you pay annual and their API has a bad quarter, you're eating the fee while migrating customers out. Seen it happen.

Failover to what? These resellers were using the white-label DNS that came bundled with the Contabo panel. No secondary NS configured, because the panel makes it look like you get "managed DNS" as a feature.

By the time they realized they needed to cut over to Cloudflare or Route53, the RBL damage was done. Reputation takes weeks to recover, not hours.

The lesson: run your own DNS infrastructure or at least have secondary NS ready to flip. Don't trust registrar DNS for anything that sends mail.

Thank you hankels. €25 monthly is steep for someone starting. In Valencia we have many small hosting businesses and OVHcloud Gravelines is close, but the panel fee kills it under 30 domains.

I use OVHcloud directly for my own domains, not reseller. Their domain API is solid but the reseller program is for volume.

Solid advice. How do you test that though? Just hit their sandbox for a week and log response times?

Also hankels thanks for the breakdown. I'm probably in that 10-50 range to start. Contabo Mumbai datacenter is close to me so latency on API calls should be decent at least.

The white-label thing is important though. Some of my target customers are local businesses in Bandra and they care about seeing an Indian brand, not some German company.
