Anniversary discount: they forgot my account existed

Right then, merry christmas to me — Hostinger emails me this 10-year anniversary loyalty discount, 40% off any new VPS. Lovely.

Except I log in and my account shows "member since: 2021". Four years. I open a ticket, get the usual "system says 2021 mate".

I dig through my emails. Found the original welcome message from 2014. Proper ancient, html tables and everything. Attached it, reopened ticket.

Support escalates. Three days later: "your account predates our current platform, anniversary date was set at migration." so my decade of loyalty counts as three years because some database engineer in 2021 picked a random cutoff.

The discount works now, technically. But cheers lads, really feeling the love over here

Oh this happened to me with Vultr, they make a server up in 2015 and migration lose everything. I send paypal receipt, they fix in two days. You have old invoice? Sometimes better than welcome email. Regards

Docker compose up, reverse proxy with traefik, done. No tickets, no "system says", no database archaeology. I've been running my own stack since 2012, every migration is my own fault and I know exactly when it happened.

my cloud. my rules. my 3AM alerts.

Had the same platform migration headache with Hostinger in 2019.

Three days for a date check? Their ticket queue must be brutal.
