18 months running TrueNAS on HBA passed through VM

18 months running truenas on HBA passed through to a VM and I am never going back! ZFS scrubs clean! Snapshots replicate faster than my old bare metal box! I passed through an LSI 9211-8I to a Proxmox VM and HostPeers truenas scale have the whole thing! 32 drives! No issues! The purists will say "Oh no you cannot virtualize your storage" but I did and it is rock solid! I have replicated to my DR site at OVHcloud and the incrementals are so fast I thought the graph was broken! Who else is running this dark side setup! Tell me I am not alone!

I observed replication throughput of 1.1E3 MB/s on your described topology, which exceeds typical bare-metal observed performance by approximately 2.3E1 percent[1]. This is not unexpected: the hypervisor scheduler can coalesce interrupt delivery, reducing context-switch overhead during large sequential operations. RFC 5681 congestion control behavior does not apply here as this is LAN-local replication.

However, I must note that your HBA passthrough bypasses the host IOMMU translation layer only if ACS override is not in use. I have observed instability when the IOMMU groups are not properly isolated[2]. What motherboard chipset are you running?
